Continue to give the garden a good watering once or twice a week. A rain gauge (or a straight sided container/sardine can) will help determine how much watering is needed, Or you can just stick your finger in the soil 2-4 inches deep to see whether your plants need more water. Keep up with your weeding to prevent weeds from going to seed.
Fall greens can be started this month. Check your seed packets for varieties that are suitable for fall/winter cropping.
Some vegetables that can be sown include lettuce, green onions or overwintering onions, Chinese cabbage, pak choi, radishes and turnips, spinach and swiss chard.

Unless your garden plantings are well established and/or drought tolerant, water deeply once or twice a week to keep the garden looking good.
