Arlington Garden Club - supporting our Neighbors

Making a Difference in Our Community

In addition to the many community organizations we support, several AGC members are active in local food bank programs.

These AGC volunteers join in collecting donated food items from local businesses. Others participate as part of a larger group who grow crops at a the food bank's community garden hosted by Andrew's Hay in Arlington, WA. The freshly grown produce is distributed by the food bank as part of their regular distribution process.

It's all about supporting our neighbors. As one AGC members, who recently participated in a spring crop planting day, says, "It's definitely a lot of work, but it's really gratifying that we're making a difference."

spring planting - helping at local efforts to grow food

In mid-April, AGC volunteers helped at one of many planting days at Andrew's Farm in Arlington.

In addition to these efforts, they sign up to regularly weed and water crops - making this a commitment that runs for months, until fall and harvest.
