Arlington Garden Club - growing Food for Neighbors

Making a Difference in Our Community

In addition to the many community organizations we support, AGC members are active in local food programs, including the Arlington Food Bank.

Members join in collecting donated food items from local businesses, as well as donating produce from their own gardens. AGC volunteers also participate with other food bank supporters to grow crops at local farms. This freshly grown produce is distributed by the food bank as part of their regular distribution process.

It's all about supporting our neighbors. As one AGC members, who recently participated in a spring crop planting day, says, "It's definitely a lot of work, but it's really gratifying that we're making a difference."

In mid-April, AGC volunteers helped at one of many planting days at Andrew's Farm in Arlington.

In addition to these efforts, volunteers sign up to regularly weed and water crops - making this a commitment that runs for months, until fall and harvest.
