In 1934, 24 ladies wearing hats and gloves, intent on creating beauty in home gardens and public places, started the Arlington Garden Club. In April of that year, members planted their first perennial garden in Terrace Park.
Today, the legacy lives on. Our membership has grown to include approximately 100 members, who support a variety of projects. Included are ongoing efforts to maintain the Mayor’s Garden and Boulton Memorial in front of City Hall in Arlington, WA.
During the first year, members also sold plants and bulbs to raise funds to support activities. In recent years, our annual Plant Sale remains as a major source of funds as is the Holiday Garden Art and Crafts. These fundraisers support the club's community service projects including our scholarship program.

In celebration of its 90th Anniversary, the Arlington Garden Club included some tidbits of its history in feature articles that appeared in its monthly Garden Scoop Newsletter.

The Club is fortunate to be able to trace its history in this gem of a book, which contains 60-typed pages of information about its founding members, their vision, thoughts, and activities.
The book and other documents were recently donated to be housed at the Stillaguamish Valley Museum.
"We believe in planting and caring for growing things, in encouraging others to do likewise, so that our town and community may be a lovelier place in which to live."
Louise Sopher, AGC member, 1938
